Back in action after our week off.  Last week we completed our 4th round  of regular season games.

Early tilt between Sweden and the USA.  All Americans in the opening frame as they out score the Swedes 4-1.  More dominance in the 2nd as the USA end the period with a 6-2 lead.  USA go ahead 7-2 in the first 5 minutes of the 3rd.  Swedes fight a bit of energy and score 3 goals making it a 7-5 game.  USA make it 8-5 with 6 minutes to go.  Swedes then make it 8-6 with 65 ticks on the clock.  Both teams exchange late goals and USA wins this one 9-7.  USA went 1-4 on the PP and Swedes go 0-4 but score a short handed one.  USA get hat tricks from both Dwayne Tygesen and Rob McKean.  2 goals from Paul Barbosa and a single from Joe Cosentino.  Sweden get 2 goals from Robin Flumerfelt and Brian Ree and singles from Mike Rukavina, Patrick Sharp and Paul ‘Pork Chop’ Tavares who scored short handed.  Players of the Game went to USA #8 Dwayne Tygesen and for the Swedes the ageless Brian Ree.

Late game between our top 2 teams, Canada and Poland.  Polocks get the only goal in the first period.  Canadians out score the Poles 2-1 in the 2nd tieing up this tilt at 2’s after 2.  Poland takes back the lead in the first 90 seconds of the 3rd.  Canada battles back and ties it up again with 8 minutes on the clock.  Both the Italian Stallion Rispoli and the Polish WALL Senkowski shut out the boys the rest of the way and we finished tied 3-3.  Both squads went 0-1 on the PP.  Poland got goals from Eric Fletcher, Kevin Nicholson and fill in help Sal Guerra.  Canada got goals from Paul Harty, Robin Chantaj and Enzo Ianno.  Good hockey game!

So with one more round of games to get through we only know one thing for sure.  Team Sweden can not catch anyone with 4 games left to play and will officially be our Schlepp #5 seed in the playoffs.  Canada on top with 22 its, Poland with 21, Finland with 19 and USA with 14 all still need to play out the 5th round to determine all of the 1 through 4 seedings.  Good battle for the Vezina as Rispoli has a 3.69 GAA and Finlands Scotty McCallum with a 3.94.  USA Robbie McKean has now jumped on top of the scoring race with 35 its.  Polands Patty McCormickski has 33.  Sweden’s Robin Flumerfelt is tied for league leading goals scored with 19 with McKean and also tied with 2 others for the John Sparrow award spending the most time with Brenda.  Canadas 2 rookies lead the rookie scoring race with 19 pts Paul Alloway and Tim Martins.  Canada’s leading scorer Enzo Ianno also leads the league with 4 game winning goals, his new nickname is ‘Money’.

This weeks games, our Valentines Day Lovers Special, goes Friday, February 16, 2018 at 9:15 Sweden vs Finland and at 10:30 USA vs Canada.  Polocks get to spend Lovers Night with their Pirogies.
