Boys,

Last weeks recap.

Early game between the Americans and the Fins.  USA scored the lone goal in the opening period in a tight checking tilt.  USA scored twice in the 2nd period taking a commanding lead 3-0 going into the final frame.  Finland scored early in the 3rd closing the gap but the Americans were too strong on this night and scored again for a final victory of 4-1.  Americans look like they are peaking at the right time.  Rob Leenaars scored twice and Moe Connell and Joe Cosentino got singles.  David SHAMPOO Duval scored the lone Finnish goal.  Nobody visited Brenda in this one.  Players of the Game went to USA backstop Gordie Ide and for the Fins David Dupal.

Late game between the surging Polocks and the struggling Swedes.  Sweden looked good in the opening period out scoring the Poles 2-1 after one.  Poland totally took over this game in the 2nd as they pound the Swedes with 5 unanswered goals taking a 6-2 lead into the final period.  Poland scores one more time to close this bad boy with a 7-2 win.  Both squads went 0-1 on the PP.  Mike Rukavina and Steve Ferrin scored for the Swedes.  A Croat and a wop walk into a bar……..   Brian Burke and Joe Peacock scored 2 goals each for Poland and singles went to Leo Brideau, Eric Fletcher, and Patrick McCormickski.  Players of the Game went to Polands goalie Art Senkowski with a big game and to Swedens most handsome player Gordon Manning.

Mrs Manning gets the horns for a week once again.

So 3 weeks left in our regular season and the only thing we know is that Sweden will be the 5th seed in our now confirmed Playoff Schedule.  With the Poland victory USA can only finish 2nd, 3rd or 4th.  Poland, Finland and Canada can all finish in any of the top 3 spots.  With Finland the only squad that could finished 4th as well.  Our closest goalie battle for best GA Avg with Rispoli only fractionally ahead of McCallum and Senkowski.  Scoring race between USA Rob McKean and Polands Pat McCormick is only separated by 1 point and they face off against each other this week.  Swedens Flumerfelt is looking to win the Stan Mikita award for most goals and most penalty minutes, you go lawyer man!!!!  And Canada’s 2 rookie sensations are just a point apart for the rookie scoring race, Alloway and Martins that should be fun, will they play on the same line?  Will they pass to each other?

This weeks games goes Friday, March 2.  At 9:15 USA will do battle with Poland, our 2 hottest teams right now.  At 10:30 Finland will skate with Canada.  Sweden gets the week off and will travel to Tony Thomas backyard as he has a Swedish Spa planned for his team mates.  Sharp will be bring them pizza hahahahah.  Alan Robb refuses to partake with his teammates if the First Aid kit is not open.

See you all on the ice lads.
