Sunday night we completed our 3rd round of playoff games.

Early tilt between #1 seed Canada and #4 seed USA.  All red & white in the opening period as Canada jumps out with a 3-1 lead after 1.  All red, white and blue in the 2nd frame as the Americans rip it up and out score the top seed Canadians 5-0 for a 6-3 lead with a period to go.  More USA as they out score Canada 2-1 in the 3rd for a stunning victory for the Americans 8-4. Who saw that coming???  USA went 0-1 on the PP Canada was 0-0.  Canada got 2 goals from Dr. Joel May and singles from Ron Chantaj and Murray Russell.  USA got 2 goals each from Moe Connell, Joe Cosentino and Rob McKean.  Singles from Dwayne Tygesen and Steve Sparrow.  USA #11 Moe Connell, Mr. April, had a 4 point night and was deservedly awarded Player of the Game.  Canada honoured #1 Frank Rispoli for the 2nd week in a row.

Late match between #2 seed Poland and #3 seed the rested Finland squad.  Hard fought battle as both goalies looked sharp in this one.  Finland scored the lone goal in the opening frame.  The 2nd period was crazy at both ends of the pond with neither team able to bulge the twine.  Finland scored with 30 seconds left on the clock to take a 2-0 lead into the final period.  Poland scored early to make it a 1 goal game.  Finland responded a minute later.  Finland then took a 4-1 lead with just under 4 minutes to go.  Poland scored late and pulled their goalie.  An empty netter for Finland gave them their 2nd victory 5-2 and sit on top of the standings.  Both squads went 0-1 on the PP.  Poland got goals from Frank Nweisser and Brian Burke.  Finland got 2 goals from rookie sensation Steve MacDougall and singles from Bruce Freeman, Tommy Marshall and Tim Randa.  Players of the Game was awarded to #1 Art Senkowski from Poland and #4 Tom Marshall for Finland.  Great game!!
