Week 4 of our playoff round robin last Friday, April 13 (scarey) in the books.

Early tilt a huge one between #1 seed Canada and #3 Finland.  All Canada out of the gate as they pound the Fins 3-0 after the opening frame.  Finland gives it right back in the 2nd as they score 3 unanswered markers for a tied game 3-3 after 2 periods.  Finland takes the first lead of this one in the first minute of the 3rd.  A titanic battle the rest of the way.  A Canada power play with under 6 minutes to go seemed to lean the the advantage to the red and white but the mighty Fins killed off the power play efforts of the Canucks and scored in the diving seconds to win this one 5-3.  Huge win for the Fins as this victory guaranteed them a spot in the Gold medal game.  Canada went 0-2 on the PP and Finland was 1-1.  Canada got goals from Ron Chantaj, Paul Harty and Joel May.  Finland got 2 goals from Steve MacDougall.  Hey isn’t Donald Trumps playmate girlfriend MacDougall?????    2 goals from the ageless Bruce Freeman and single from Tim Randa.  Players of the Game went to Canada’s #1 Frank Rispoli and to Finlands #19 Steve MacDougall.  Canada’s loss has put them in the Kiss your Sister game Championship Night.

Late game between the #4 seed surging Americans and the desperate #5 seed Sweden.  2-1 for the Americans after the 1st period.  All Americans in the 2nd period as they score 3 goals and take a 5-1 lead.  USA get 2 more in the final frame for a dominating win of 7-1.  Penalty free game, yes!!!  Sweden’s lone goal scored by Robin Flumerfelt.  USA got 2 goals from Moe Connell ripping up the scoring in the playoffs and moved from defence to forward now, nice strategic move for the Americans.  Single markers from Dwayne Tygesen, Steve Sparrow, George Letsos, Steve Waters and David Rinaldo.  I think every current and past defensemen except Sal Guerra scored in this one.  Players of the Game went to USA #11 Moe Connell and for the Swedes the very handsome Croatian #3 Harve Mihalic.  A unicorn only a mother can love!!!

No Tony Thomas for this game so NO Swedish First Aid Kit so a total loss of a night for the Swedes on more than one level, bahabahabahabaha!!!!!!!!!!  The Swedish loss has officially put them out of Championship Night as the 5th seed.

This Friday, April 20, 2018 our final night of playoff round robin games.  Early tilt goes at 7:15pm with Canada playing Poland.  Big game more details below on this one.  The 8:30 pm game is between Finland and Sweden and this one has ZERO meaning for either team as Finland has secured a spot in the Gold medal game and Sweden is done and just playing for PRIDE looking for their 2nd win the entire season.  USA are done for their round robin and finished 2-1-1 and 5 pts and must wait and see the result of the Canada Poland match.  So a Poland loss or tie against Canada will put USA vs FINLAND in for the Gold game and CANADA and POLAND for the Kiss your Sister Bronze game.  Our tie breaker rules are as follows in the playoffs – 1) head to head. 2) GF/GF + GA. 3) least penalty minutes 4) coin toss.  Based on this it will be interesting.  Poland needs to win and here are the specifics by how much.  IF Canada score 0 goals Poland needs 3 or more.  If Canada scores 1 goal Poland needs 5 or more.  A 4-1 Poland win will tie them with USA and then it would go to least penalty minutes.  mmmmm.  If Canada scores 2 goals Poland needs 6 or more.  If Canada scores 3 goals Poland needs 8 or more.  If Canada scores 4 goals then Poland needs 10 or more.  A 9-4 Poland win will again tie them with USA and we go to tie breaker #3.  All this because both teams tied earlier in the playoff round robin.  Lots of info but thats what is up for grabs if the Polocks want to get to the Gold medal game.

OK see you all on the ice boys and a reminder to get your applications filled out and your $50 deposits in this week to secure a spot for next season.  IF you will NOT be returning next season let us know as soon as possible.  Also our Championship Night goes Sunday, April 22 at Port Credit arena and if you will not be playing leave your sweater and socks with your team reps this Friday please.
