Week 14 Recap Holiday Classic

Our last game before the big fat guy in the red coat and white beard comes to visit us next week.

Early game last week between our top 2 teams Islanders and Flyers with good attendance.  Flyers out score the Islanders 3-1 after the first frame.  Flyers continue to roll winning the 2nd 2-0 for a 5-1 lead.  Flyers win the final frame 2-1 handing the Islanders their 2nd straight defeat 7-2.  Both squads went 0-1 on the PP.  Flyers get goals from Diluzio with a trick, Robb, Nicholson, Dan Barrett and McCormick with singles.  McKean and Tygesen score for the Islanders.  Players of the Game went to Flyers Mark Plewes and Islanders Dwayne Tygesen.  All round solid effort for the Flyers as they square up with the Islanders as best in the league with 15 points each.  Senkowski was a fill in for the Flyers and played a strong game for the winners.

Late game between our 2 bottom teams Oilers and the Habs.  Habs have struggled all season with 1st period anemic results.  No change in this puppy as the Oilers take it to the Habs 4-1 in the opening frame.  The 2nd period saw a draw of 2-2 as the Oilers head into the final period with a 6-3 lead.  Habs get an early 3rd period goal but the Oilers scored 30 seconds after maintaining their 3 goal lead.  Habs get 2 back with 60 tics left on the clock trailing 7-6.  Frantic frenzy in the Oiler end as the final buzzer sounds.  Oilers win 7-6 on a great finish to this one.  Oilers jump out of the basement for the first time this season.  Habs were 0-2 on the PP and Oilers went 0-1.  Oilers goals 2 for Brideau and singles for Spence, Chantaj, Kelly, Leenaars and the game winner from Nelson.  Habs gets a hat trick from Peacock, and singles from Steve Kostick, Sharp and Thomas.  Players of the Game went to Habs Joe Peacock and Oilers Leo Brideau (line mates from last season haha).

So now all that is left is for santa to come and bring everyone what they have wished for.  No games next week as we take time to spend with family and friends.  On behalf of the entire Exec we wish you all good health and happiness over the Christmas Holiday.

Cheers

Week 13 Recap

Boys,

Can you say 6-6-6?  Because 3 of the 4 teams last week each scored 6 times.

Early match between the Oilers and the Bruins.  Bruins win their 3rd straight game with a solid 6-1 victory over the Oilers.  Bruins get a hat trick from the very hot Robin Flumerfelt winning back to back Player of the Game awards.  Flumerfelt added an assist and a penalty quite the night.  Bruins Cosentino also had a 4 point night with a marker and 3 helpers.  Hot rookie sensation Murray Russell added 2 goals and is now tied for the league lead amongst all rookie scorers.  Oilers Boudens gets their lone goal.  Oilers backstop Rispoli was awarded their player of the game.  Bruins on a roll but are dropping like flies as they fire their trainer.

Late tilt between Montreal and Philadelphia, both squads have beaten each other once heading into this one.  It was all Flyers in the first half as they jumped to a 5-0 lead.  But these comeback Les Habitants battled and finished this match all tied at 6 a piece.  Patty McCormick with a big night for the Flyers with 2 goals and 3 assists.  Patty needed just 2 points to join Rukavina as the next 500 career point man, congrats Patty, did your teammates make you a banner???    Flyers Player of the Game went to our Dentist Dr. Joel May with a 2 goal night.  Robb and Nicholson got the other Flyer goals.  Habs got 2 goals from their Player of the Game Joe ‘best Looking Oldtimer’ Peacock.  Singles from Sharp, rookies Thomson and Desrosiers and Chantaj.

So just one more night of games before the big fat red guy with a white beard comes to visit.  This weeks Holiday special Friday, December 18 the following games are scheduled.  9:15 pm Islanders will battle the Flyers and at 10:30 pm the Oilers will face off against the Canadians.  Bruins get a much needed week off.

Reminder we have our week 15 games scheduled on Tuesday, December 29 at Port Credit arena at earlier times.  8:00 pm Philadelphia will play Edmonton and at 9:15 pm Islanders will play Boston.  Montreal will be off this night.  Please let your teams know if you will be away for these games so they can replace where needed.

Reminder RIDE will be out so please be careful and see you all on the ice!  Ho Ho Ho Ho Dogs!

Week 12 Recap

Last weeks games were  both blow outs as the Christmas spirit has begun.

The early tilt between the Habs and the Bruins with only 9 skaters took it to the Habs winning 7-1.  Bruins Robin Flumerfelt, who secretly wants to be traded to his beloved Habs, led the charge with a hat trick and a helper.  John Annan and Eric Fletcher each with 2 goals.  Hans Tim Randa gets the lone Habs goal.  Habs mighty backstop Barry Ervin gets the Player of the Game as he truly kept this game at only 7 goals as the listless Habs did not help him at all.  Flumerfelt was awarded Bruins Player of the Game.  A spanking right from the start.  Habs Tony Thomas back from 2 heart attacks takes over the lead in penalty minutes.

Late game between the Oilers and the league leading Islanders who needed 3 fill in players to reach the min 10 skaters.  Oilers finally healthy for the first time took it to the league leaders 8-2.  Oilers were led by Robb Nelson with 2 goals and 2 assists.  Brideau with 2 goals, Maguire, Atchison, Spence and Burke getting the other Oiler markers.  Pat McCormick filling ing score both Islander goals and gets the Player of the Game as does Robb Nelson.  Oilers end Islanders 5 game winning streak and looked very good in this one.

This weeks games Friday, December 11 are as follows.  9:15 pm the 2 winning teams from last week face off, Bruins vs the Oilers.  The 10:30 pm game will show case the Habs vs the Flyers.  Islanders get the week off.
