Week 22 Recap

Last weeks recap.

Early game between the Americans and the Fins.  USA scored the lone goal in the opening period in a tight checking tilt.  USA scored twice in the 2nd period taking a commanding lead 3-0 going into the final frame.  Finland scored early in the 3rd closing the gap but the Americans were too strong on this night and scored again for a final victory of 4-1.  Americans look like they are peaking at the right time.  Rob Leenaars scored twice and Moe Connell and Joe Cosentino got singles.  David SHAMPOO Duval scored the lone Finnish goal.  Nobody visited Brenda in this one.  Players of the Game went to USA backstop Gordie Ide and for the Fins David Dupal.

Late game between the surging Polocks and the struggling Swedes.  Sweden looked good in the opening period out scoring the Poles 2-1 after one.  Poland totally took over this game in the 2nd as they pound the Swedes with 5 unanswered goals taking a 6-2 lead into the final period.  Poland scores one more time to close this bad boy with a 7-2 win.  Both squads went 0-1 on the PP.  Mike Rukavina and Steve Ferrin scored for the Swedes.  A Croat and a wop walk into a bar……..   Brian Burke and Joe Peacock scored 2 goals each for Poland and singles went to Leo Brideau, Eric Fletcher, and Patrick McCormickski.  Players of the Game went to Polands goalie Art Senkowski with a big game and to Swedens most handsome player Gordon Manning.

Mrs Manning gets the horns for a week once again.

So 3 weeks left in our regular season and the only thing we know is that Sweden will be the 5th seed in our now confirmed Playoff Schedule.  With the Poland victory USA can only finish 2nd, 3rd or 4th.  Poland, Finland and Canada can all finish in any of the top 3 spots.  With Finland the only squad that could finished 4th as well.  Our closest goalie battle for best GA Avg with Rispoli only fractionally ahead of McCallum and Senkowski.  Scoring race between USA Rob McKean and Polands Pat McCormick is only separated by 1 point and they face off against each other this week.  Swedens Flumerfelt is looking to win the Stan Mikita award for most goals and most penalty minutes, you go lawyer man!!!!  And Canada’s 2 rookie sensations are just a point apart for the rookie scoring race, Alloway and Martins that should be fun, will they play on the same line?  Will they pass to each other?

This weeks games goes Friday, March 2.  At 9:15 USA will do battle with Poland, our 2 hottest teams right now.  At 10:30 Finland will skate with Canada.  Sweden gets the week off and will travel to Tony Thomas backyard as he has a Swedish Spa planned for his team mates.  Sharp will be bring them pizza hahahahah.  Alan Robb refuses to partake with his teammates if the First Aid kit is not open.

See you all on the ice lads.

2018 Playoff Schedule is now confirmed

2018 Playoff Schedule CONFIRMED

We have just confirmed our playoff schedule for this season.  It is posted under events and attached to this post.  Please note earlier times for almost all games and some day changes as well.  ALL playoff games will take place at Port Credit arena.

Week 21 Recap

The start of our final round of regular season games took place this past Friday.

Early match between Sweden and Finland.  Sweden with a solid opening frame took a 2-1 lead into the 2nd.  Sweden jumped in front 3-1 early in the 2nd.  Finland closed out the period with a late goal trailing 3-2 after 2.  No goals for the first half of the final frame until 7:33 when the Fin’s tied it up at 3’s.  A barage of light blue as the Fin’s scored 3 more times winning this one 6-3.  Finland went 0-2 on the PP and Sweden was 0-0 but had 2 short handed markers in this match.  Sweden got goals from Robin Flumerfelt, Tony Thomas and Paul ‘Pork Chop’ Tavares.  Finland got a hat trick from rookie Steve MacDougall, 2 goals from Tim Randa and a single from Rob Messenger.  Fill in Murray Barrett for brother Dan got 5 assists in this one and much discussion on who is the better brother.  Players of the Game went to Finlands #15 Tim Randa and for the Swedes #4 Tony Thomas.

Is Thomas actually smiling?????

Late game between Canada and the USA. ‘NO COLLUSION’.  Americans score the lone goal in the 1st period.  USA out score the Canucks 2-1 in the 2nd for a 3-1 lead after 2.  And deja vu in the final period as the yankees win this match 5-2 for their first victory in 5 tries vs the mighty Canadians.  Penalty free game with no love for Brenda.  Canadians got f=goals from Marcello Diluzio and Neil Kelly.  USA got 2 goals from league leader Rob McKean and Joe Cosentino and a single from Dwayne Tygesen.  Americans may be peaking at the right time.  Players of the Game went to Canadian #11 Robin Chantaj and to the American #1 Gordie Ide.  Gordie and Sal were found visiting the Swedish room looking for the first aid kit with their teammates wondering how loyal they actually were to their own team.

So outside of Sweden locked into the 5th seed the top 4 seeds will most likely get set after the final game of the regular season as it is that tight.  Our Playoff schedule is just about to be confirmed as we are waiting only on one date for final confirmation.  Will let the league know as soon as it is confirmed.  Lots of earlier times and some day changes as well.

This weeks games on Friday, February 23 are as follows.  9:15 pm USA vs Finland and at 10:30 pm Sweden will do battle with Poland.  The Canadians get the week off.

See you all on the ice!

Week 20 Recap

Back in action after our week off.  Last week we completed our 4th round  of regular season games.

Hey thx to team rep Sharp for the Pizza hahahahahahah!

Late game between our top 2 teams, Canada and Poland.  Polocks get the only goal in the first period.  Canadians out score the Poles 2-1 in the 2nd tieing up this tilt at 2’s after 2.  Poland takes back the lead in the first 90 seconds of the 3rd.  Canada battles back and ties it up again with 8 minutes on the clock.  Both the Italian Stallion Rispoli and the Polish WALL Senkowski shut out the boys the rest of the way and we finished tied 3-3.  Both squads went 0-1 on the PP.  Poland got goals from Eric Fletcher, Kevin Nicholson and fill in help Sal Guerra.  Canada got goals from Paul Harty, Robin Chantaj and Enzo Ianno.  Good hockey game!

So with one more round of games to get through we only know one thing for sure.  Team Sweden can not catch anyone with 4 games left to play and will officially be our Schlepp #5 seed in the playoffs.  Canada on top with 22 its, Poland with 21, Finland with 19 and USA with 14 all still need to play out the 5th round to determine all of the 1 through 4 seedings.  Good battle for the Vezina as Rispoli has a 3.69 GAA and Finlands Scotty McCallum with a 3.94.  USA Robbie McKean has now jumped on top of the scoring race with 35 its.  Polands Patty McCormickski has 33.  Sweden’s Robin Flumerfelt is tied for league leading goals scored with 19 with McKean and also tied with 2 others for the John Sparrow award spending the most time with Brenda.  Canadas 2 rookies lead the rookie scoring race with 19 pts Paul Alloway and Tim Martins.  Canada’s leading scorer Enzo Ianno also leads the league with 4 game winning goals, his new nickname is ‘Money’.
