week 13 Recap

Boys last weeks games recap.  Early match between USA and Poland.  Polocks score 2 unanswered goals in the first period.  The 2nd frame was all square as both teams scored twice, Poland leading 4-2 after 2.  USA scored in the first 30 seconds of the 3rd making it a one goal game.  Strong battles at both ends of the pond as the Ide brothers dulled it out.  Poland scored twice late in the game and closed this puppy out with a 6-3 victory.  Poland went 0-2 on the PP and USA was 0-0.  USA got goals from Tom Marshall, Jimmy Maguire and Paul Barbosa the original Pork Chop.  Poland got 2 goals from Mike Rukavina and singles from Dan Barrett, Marcelo Diluzio, Henry Krajewski the true Polock and finally from Steve Ferrin who played under tremendous stress in this match….long story really but very funny.  Players of the Game went to USA Jodie Young.

Handsome devil.  And for the Polocks give it up for Henry Krajweski.

Late game between Finland and Canada was a beaut.  Both squads with only 9 skaters and neither felt they needed a call up from the early game.  All Finland in the first as they took a 3-1 lead after 1.  Canada bounced back in the 2nd out scoring the Finns 2-0 to tie up this match at 3’s after 2.  Final frame saw shutouts at both ends and I caught a few of the amazing saves McCallum and Stenkowski made.  Final score 3-3.  Canada went 0-1 on the PP and Finland 0-0.  Finland got goals from Pat McCormick, Moe Connell and John Fasulo.  Canada got goals from Ken Coffin, Sal Guerra and our Prez Alan Robb.  Al had a 3 point night and was awarded Player of the Game.  Check this pic out?????

WTF??????  Toy Story!!!

For the Finns the very handsome Patty Sharp.  Witnessed Patty blowing by Guerra on a rush in this one, crowd went crazy.

How youuuu doooiiingggg!

So this weeks Christmas Special Games are as follows.  9:15 Sweden plays Canada our 2 top teams.  And at 10:30 the 3rd and 4th seeds will do battle Finland and Poland.  USA get the week off.

See you all on the ice!

Week 12 Recap

Week 12 in the books. Early game was a good one, Finland vs USA.  The Finn’s came to play in the opening period taking a 3-1 lead.  Finland made it 4-1 after 2 as they scored on the PP late in the period.  USA had some fight and took over the 3rd scoring twice but just falling short.  Finland 4 USA 3.  Finland went 1-1 on the PP and USA was 0-0.  Finland got 2 goals from veteran Patty McCormick and singles from George Letsos and Robbie Leenaars.  USA got 2 goals from penalty free Robin Flumerfelt and a single form Jimmy Maguire.  Players of the Game went to USA Jim Maguire.

And for the winning Finn’s the very handsome Tony Carlisle.

With the Finland win they moved from 5th to 3rd in our very tight standings.

Late game between Sweden and Poland.  Poland riding a season high 3 game winning streak had a lot of confidence in this one.  Sweden scored the lone goal in the 1st period.  This tight match continued in the 2nd with Sweden out scoring Poland 2-1 for a 3-1 lead.  All Swedes in the final frame as the Polocks stumbled big time as Sweden scored 4 unanswered goals for a big time win of 7-1.  A schpanking!!!  Penalty free tilt.  Joe Peacock got the lone goal for Poland.  Finland got 2 goals from 3 players, Leo Brideau, Dwayne Tygesen and Peter Freeman and a single from Joe Cosentino.  Leo’s hamstring and back and all the press stating he may have finally slowed down was put to rest as he finished the night with a 5 point effort, welcome back big guy. And obviously Swedens player of the game.  For the Polocks, needing some viagra, was backstop Bobby Ice.

This weeks games goes Friday, December 14 at 9:15 pm USA will face off against the Polocks.  At 10:30 pm Finland will do battle with Canada.  Sweden gets the week off and are looking for a team hat.

2 more weeks until our Holiday 50/50 draw.  Mark Plewes will be around again this week selling tickets.  $5 each or 5 for $20.  Get them while they last.  Lots of cool donated prizes are coming in so there should be many winners.

See you all on the ice!

Week 11 Recap – Start of Round 3

OK 2 games last Friday night kicking off our 3rd round of ‘Pre Season’ games, that’s for you Leo.

Early game had a playoff atmosphere to it.  Sweden vs Finland the Scandinavian rivals.  Finland scored the lone goal in the 1st period.  Sweden tied it up early and then Finland took back the lead with 6 minutes to go in the 2nd.  Sweden tied it up late in the period.  Final frame belonged to both backstops as they shut out all shooters for a 2-2 final score.  Great game!!!  And NO penalties, the Holiday spirit was quite evident.  Tim Martins and Bryon Wright scored for the Swedes.  Steve MacDougall the sophomore sensation scored both Finlands markers.  Obviously the 2 goalies were awarded the Player of the Game.  Frank Rispoli and Scott McCallum.  Finland has joined the team POG hat parade, thanks Patty Sharp.

Sweden get a hat!!!!!!!!

Late game was not as even as the early match as Canada faced off against the Trumpsters USA.  Canada got 3 goals in the 1st and 4 goals in the 2nd and then cruised the rest of the way as they woop the Americans 7-0.  Art Senkowski gets his 2nd shutout this season, wtf, shutout on Friday nights are as rare as Joe’s girlfriend not coming to watch her man battle every Friday night.  Enzo Ianno gets a hat trick for Canada, John Annan gets 2 markers and Eric Fletcher and yes our Prez Alan Robb playing his first game of the season scored.  This game also was penalty free which means Brenda had ZERO visitors all night long, sad very sad.  Proud of you guys!!!!  Players of the Game went to Art Senkowski for Canada and for the USA Tim Randa but not sure of the image they sent me but here it is.

I guess that is what happens when you lose 7-0 on a Friday night.  The best Tim has looked all year I must say, and there is nothing wrong with that, he is from Sudbury.  Canada we need a hat for your POG.  My name is JOE and I am Canadian!!!!

This weeks games will go Friday, December 7.  9:15 USA will face off against Finland and at 10:30 the rested Polocks will skate with Sweden.  Canada gets the week off.

Mark Plewes will be around again this week selling our 50/50 Holiday Fundraiser.  $5 a ticket or 5 for $20.  Please support and we are getting lots of additional donated prizes that are pretty cool.

See you all on the ice lads!
