Early game last week between the red hot Fin’s and the rested Canadians.  Canada scored the only 2 goals in the opening period and deja vu in the 2nd period as Canada led 4-0 after 2 periods.  The final period went scoreless and the 5th place Canadians (sand baggers) upset the 1st place Fins.  Both back stops played very well in this one and as such both Frank Rispoli and Bobby Ide earn Player of the Game nods. A shut out in our league is quite rare.  Both teams went 0-1 on the PP.  Canada got 2 goals from sophomore Denis Desrosiers and singles from Jay Cummings and David Dupal.

Late game between USA and Poland was a high scoring affair.  Both teams score twice in the 1st period.  All Poland in the 2nd frame as they score 3 unanswered goals for a 5-2 lead after 2.  USA score a couple early in the 3rd but the Polocks were too much for them as Poland gets 6 goals in the 3rd and the Americans score 3 times.  Final victory for the white and red 11-5.  USA got 3 goals from Rob McKean and 2 goals from Tim Randa.  Poland goal scorers as follows.  4 goals off the wood of Pat McCormick, 3 goals from Dwayne Tygesen, 2 goals from Robin Flumerfelt and singles from Gord Manning and Polish fan favourite Eddie Kuzniewski, what?????  USA Dan Barrett with 4 assists in this one.  Poland Tygesen with a 6 point night and not sure on this but Poland goalie McCallum had 4 assists on the game sheet, thats gotta be some kind of record.  Both teams went 0-0 on the PP and Mr. Flumerfelt is now 240 minutes penalty free as he continues to work on his rehab.  Players of the Game goes to USA Rob McKean and Polands Pat McCormick.  Nice image Patty.  Is that a Donald Trump finger move?  Hey its just locker room talk right?

See you all on the ice!

Week 17 Recap

Last weeks early tilt between Sweden and Poland was a good one.  The 2nd and 3rd place teams scored once each in the first period.  The same in the 2nd period as they went to the final tied at 2’s.  Poland went out in front the opening minutes of the 3rd.  Poland back stop McCallum keeping this game close making many fine stops in the 3rd.  Swedes pull their goalie for the extra attacker in the final minute and press.  And with 30 ticks left tie up the game at 3’s.  And thats how this one finished. Penalty free game too, nice!!!  Poland gets goals from Alan Robb, Robin Flumerfelt and Robin Chantaj.  Sweden gets goals from Ron Cormier, Moe Connell and Joe Peacock.  Many Polish players came to visit the Swedish room after this game to see the unique Nordic First Aid Kit.  Great to see adversaries on the ice come together off the ice after battle.  Players of the Game went to Swedens Moe Connell and to Polands Robin Flumerfelt.  These 2 could be brothers???

Week 15 Recap

Boys I am back in action and my apologies for the delay.  Hoping everyones Holidays were well and Santa brought you everything you wished for.  To Me from Me always works best for me. haha.

Ok while I was away we completed our round 3 games just before the new year on December 30.

Early game between Canada and Poland.  The Canadians had a lot of jump in this one early as they took a 2-0 lead after one frame.  Both teams scored a goal each in the 2nd as the Canadians found themselves in front 3-1 after 2.  Poland scored early in the 3rd making it a one goal game.  But these renewed Canadians scored the last goal for a 4-2 victory.  The team building event at Julius’s hot tub at Xmas seemed to bring the red and white together.  Canadians got 2 goals from Gerry Boudens and singles from Ron Chantaj and David Dupal.  Poland got goals from Jodie Young and Robin Flumerfelt.  Both squads went 0-1 on the PP.  Players of the Game for Canada went to the hair dresser Mr. Shampoo David Dupal and for the Polocks with 2 point night Jodie Young and here he is in living colour and all I can say is oh my Jodie do not show your honey this pic.

Lack of Holiday sleep and maybe we need to increase the meds.

Late game between Sweden and the USA.  All Trump in the opening frame as they out score the swedes 3-1.  Both squads score single markers in the 2nd.  With the upcoming inauguration and Meryl Streep getting ready with her Golden Globe speech the Americans roll over the Swedes in the final frame for a 6-3 victory.  Again it was only Locker Room talk.  Americans get 2 goals from both Tim Runkle Rundle and Jimmy Maguire and singles from Dan Barrett and Rob Messenger.  Swedes get 2 goals from Patty Sharp and a single from David Riddell.  Swedes went 0-1 on the PP and USA was 0-0.  Players of the Game went to both backstops Gord Ide and Art Senkowski.

How did Artie get the Swedish horns???  mmmmmmmm.

So after 3 rounds the idle Fin’s continue to dominate and lead the league but the next 4 teams have now squeezed closer together.  Dan Barrett and Rob McKean from the USA lead the league in scoring. Swedes Patrick Sharp leads the league in goals scored with 13.

Ahhh Leo there is a new king in town and his name is Patrick Sharp my man.  As the pounds shed the black rubber increases in the net.  Teams have vowed to shadow Patty for the remainder of the season and stop this Swedish sniper the rest of the way, Patty is up for the challenge!!!

Flumerfelt trails Sharp by one goal and has entered a PAA rehab and is now 120 minutes penalty free and following the 12 step program.  He leads the league in this category but has publicly stated he will NOT win the John Sparrow award by seasons end.  Now if he still wears this sweater to the rink there will be consequences.
