Ah we are off an running as our opening night is now in the books.

Our season opening match between Sweden and Finland.  The nordic rivalry kicked off as Finland rookie Steve MacDougall opened our 31st season scoring and his first career goal hopefully of many.  Sweden tied it up with another rookie Paul Tavares the Pork Chop scoring his 1st.  Finland needed a fill in player as Cosentino was helping them out and gave them a 2-1 lead after 1.  Both squads scored twice in the 2nd as Fin lead 4-3 after 2.  All Fins in the final as they out scored the Swedes 3-1 for their first victory of 7-4.  Finland rookie MacDougall with 2, Jimmy Maguire with 2, fill in Cosentino with 2 and David Dupal with a single.  Maguire with a monster night with 5 points.  Sweden got singles from both rookies Paul Tavares and Dave Kelly also Have Mihalic and Tony Thomas with goals.  Players of the Game went to Finlands Jim Maguire and for Sweden rookie Dave Kelly gets to impress his Mrs with the Horns!!!!!

Late tilt between Canada and USA.  USA decided to go with 8 skaters for this one, mmmmm.  Canada scores 3 unanswered goals in the opening frame.  Deja vu in the 2nd as they took a 6-0 lead after 2.  The Trumpsters out score the Canadians 2-1 in the final frame but it was not enough as Canada wins its opener 7-2.  McKean and Barbosa for the yankees.  Canada got 2 goals Enzo inane and singles from Steve Atchison, Paul Harty, Joel May and both rookies Paul Alloway and Tim Martins as well.  Both Canadian rookies had 3 point nights.  A night for rookies!  Players of the Game went to USA Moe Connell, yes last years multi POG winner.  Canada gives it to back stop Frank the Italian Stallion Rispoli.

So we are off and running and all is well in the world.  This week the early game at 9:15 will show case USA vs Finland and at 10:30 Sweden will face off against the much awaited debut of Poland.  Canada gets the week off.
