Week 11 Recap (November 28 Games)
Sorry for the delayed report this week. The RCMP was called in to investigate missing gamesheets. A number of suspects have been detained without any progress. The waterboarding starts tonight. Meanwhile we have pieced together the following….
Early Game – Slovenia vs Ireland
Slovenia has dominated the middle of the standings this year and they’re looking to make a move against an Irish squad struggling with injuries.
Slovenia goes ahead in the first period with goals from Vincelli against a Peter McKay goal for Slovenia.
Both goalies shut things down in period 2, but Slovenia put the icing on the cake in the final frame with Greg Platt and senior statesman Bruuuuuuuuuuuce Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeman!!!
The Freeman goal is the Play of the Week as it was entirely a family affair.
GOAL SCORED BY…..BRUCE FREEMAN
ASSISTED BY……TIM FREEMAN AND…….PETER FREEMAN
Final score: Slovenia 4, Ireland 1.
POG’s to both goalies in this one: Slovenia’s substitute goalie Fabio Faoro and Ireland’s talented backstop Tomi Nieminen.

Late Game – Italy vs Scotland
Scotland enters this game one point behind the resting Portuguese, so looking to move back into first place with a win. Italy winless in November looking like a juicy target for the ambitious kilts.
But that’s why we play ’em.
Strong goaltending in period 1 with both teams only managing singles from Ciro Napolitano and Todd MacDougall.
The teams trade goals again in period 2, this time from Leo Brideau and Dave Wodar who is fresh off the injured reserve list and making an impact. Game tied 2-2 after two.
Period 3 would prove that you can never discount the underdog in PCOHL hockey. Italy’s Conn Smythe Winner Arty “Let’s Party” Senkowski absolutely SLAMMED the door shut on the vaunted, league-leading Scottish offence and let his teammates go to work. Italy wins period three by a score of 4-0 with Wodar gathering his second of the game — the game winner — while Stephen Davis adds a NATURAL HAT TRICK to finish the game with an exclamation point. DO NOT UNDER-ESTIMATE THE ITALIANS.
Italy Player of the Game goes to Dave Wodar with a strong performance on his return to action. Scotland’s POG goes to workhouse Steve Boyle.
