Start of Round 4 of Pre-Season games. Early game between Italy and Scotland was a barn burner. Italy needing some fill ins as the Italian hospital continues to be full. Special night for the MacDougall family as brothers Todd and Kevin face off against each other for the first time on Friday night Oldtimers hockey. Not sure who the better one is but I do know who the better looking one is. 2-1 for the Scotsmen after 1 frame. Ageless Johnny Annan and Todd MacDougall scoring for Scotland. Handsome Chris Johnson for the Itai’s. 2nd frame saw the only 2 goals off the depleted Italians taking a 3-2 lead after 2. Kevin MacDougall and Ciro Napolitano for the Italians. The 3rd period belonged to the Scottish as Annan scores his 2nd of the night, Leo Brideau makes it 4-3. Napolitano gets his 2nd of the night for Italy but Scotlands Mike Paciuc scores the winner late giving Scotland a 5-4 win in a very good battle. Players of the game goes to Scotlands Happiest Player Image, backstop Stewart Henderson much deserved.

Late game was also a tight one. Slovenia and Ireland. Fabio, great handle, filling in for Ireland in the crease for this one. 2-1 for the Slov’s after 1. Both Slovenia goals off the wood of Bobby King. Jeff, man bun, Boulton for the Irish. Lots of goals in the 2nd as Ireland scores 4 times to Slov’s 2 goals giving Ireland a 5-4 lead after 2. Boulton again, Paul Riopelle with 2 goals and Dwayne Tygesen with a single for Ireland. Bobby King completed his trick for the night and Dave Vincelli scored for Slovenia. Final frame belonged to both goalies making magnificent save after save. Veteran Jimmy Maguire got one past Fabio for the Slovs to tie up this tilt at 5’s. That’s how this one finished. Ireland had 3 power plays in the 3rd but could not get one past the ageless Rispoli. Players of the Game goes to Slovenia’s Bobby King. Does his wife know he won big ion our 50/50 draw????

And for the Irish our 2nd oldest player and longest active player with 30+ years of league play, the one and only Billy Dawe.

Next week January 16 early game between the rested Portuguese and Slovenia. Late game Italy vs Ireland. Scotland get the rest this week.
