Week 15 End of Round 3 Recap

Last games of 2019 and the end of our third round of reg season games.  Early game between Canada and Poland was not a goalie friendly match.  Canada out scores Poland 4-3 in the opening frame.  Poland explodes for 6 goals in the 2nd and the Canucks just get 1.  Poland on top 9-5 after 2.  Canada comes back with 3 straight unanswered goals in the 3rd making it a 9-8 game but they ran out of clock and Poland wins 9-8 final score.  Poland went 1-2 on the PP and Canada went 1-3 and scored short handed in this one.  Poland got 4 goals from Alan Robbitski, 2 goals from Frank Arrudaski and singles from Jim Maguireski, Brent Byerski and Joe Cosentinoski.  Canada got 4 goals from Paul Harty, 2 goals from Patty Sharp and singles from Rob McKean and Rick Gunther.  Players of the Game went to both #15’s Polands Alan Robb and Canada’s Paul Harty.

Late game between the top 2 teams Sweden and USA.  2-1 for the Swedes after one period.  2-1 for the Americans in the 2nd for a 3-3 tie after 2.  The final frame saw a very tired Swedish team run out of gas as the Americans score 4 unanswered for a big 7-3 victory.  Sweden went 1-2 on the PP and USA was 0-0.  USA got 2 goals from Marcelo Diluzio, Dan Barrett and Steve Ferrin.  A single marker from Murray Russell.  Sweden got goals from Mike Rukavina, Paul Barbosa and Leo Brideau.  Players of the Game went to Swedens Paul Barbosa and for the Yanks Steve Ferrin.  A wop and a pork chop walked into the bar………

So 3 rounds of 5 in the books.  Sweden is on top with 16 its followed by USA with 15, Finland with 11 and both Canada and Poland with 9.  The usually bandits lead the league in scoring with Diluzio on top and Tygesen and McKean on his tail.  Johnny ‘Cowboy’ Ridge leads the league in rookie scoring and in penalty minutes, Stan Mikita action.

So start of round 4 and the new year 2020 games on Friday, January 3 are as follows; 9:15 Canada vs USA and at 10:30 Finland vs Sweden.  Poland get the week off.

Week 14 Holiday Games Recap

Awww our final games before this Christmas holiday kicks off.   Lots of good spirits in the rink last night.

Early game between Sweden and Canada.  Sweden gets 2 in the 1st and Canada gets 1.  Canada outscores Sweden 3-2 in the 2nd tieing this tilt up at 4-4 after 2 periods.  The final frame saw both teams go scoreless for the first 10 minutes of the period and then Sweden explodes for 3 straight goals in less than 2 minutes.  Both squads score one more time in the last 2 minutes for a final Swedish victory of 8-5.  Exciting game.  Sweden went 0-2 on the PP and Canada was 0-1. Canada got 2 goals from Paul Harty and singles from Harve Mihalic, Robin Chantaj and Robin Flumerfelt.  Sweden got 2 goals from both Mike Rukavina and Rob McLaughlin and singles from Enzo Ianno (his 1st of the season and he thanked all the gods above), Tony Thomas, Eric Fletcher and the very handsome Joseph Peacock.  Players of the Game went to Swedens Rob McLaughlin and for Canada Paul Harty.

Late game between Finland and a depleted Polish squad.  All Finland in the 1st as they score 3 times.  2 more Finnish goals in the 2nd for a 5-0 lead after 2.  Final period saw both teams get 2 goals each for a final Finland win of 7-2.  Finland went 0-1 on the PP and Poland was 0-0.  Poland got goals from Joe Cosentino and Frank Arruda.  Finland got 2 goals each from both Dwayne Tygesen and the ageless Bruce Freeman.  Singles from Robbie Leenaars, Jay Cummings and Tony Carlisle.  Players of the Game went to Finlands Bruce Freeman and for Poland Art ‘Santa’ Senkowski.  One more game before we shut down 2019 on Friday, December 27 ar Port Credit arena to close out our 3rd round of preseason games.  9:15 Canada will skate with Poland and at 10:30 Sweden will face off against USA.  Finland get the week off.

60 years young!!!

Ahh USA Dan Barrett turned 60 years old this weekend.  Happy happy Dan.  Bruce Freeman says when he was 60 bread was a nickel and there was so much snow.

Richard Chalovich also turned 60 in the last few weeks.  Happy happy Commish!!!!

Week 13 Recap & Friday the 13th?????

Friday the 13th recap and week 13, the Mayans said something about this alignment.

Early game between USA and Poland.  Scoreless in the 1st frame.  The 2nd period was all squared up too as both teams scored single goals for a 1-1 tie after 2.  The final period was all Peter Freeman for the USA as he scored a natural hat trick in the 3rd and the USA win this battle 4-1.  Poland went 0-2 on the PP and USA was 0-0.  Joe Cosentino scored the lone Polish marker.  USA got a trick from Peter Freeman and a single from Murray DISCO Russell.  Players of the Game obviously Peter Freeman for the Yanks and Bryon Wright for the Polocks.

Late game between Canada and the surging Finland squad.  Canada get the lone goal in the 1st period.  Canada continued their dominance scoring twice in the 2nd period for a 3-0 lead after 2.  Both squads scored once in the final frame for a final victory of 4-1 for Canada.  Both teams went 0-1 on the PP.  Tim Martins scored the lone Finland goal.  Canada got 2 from the speedy Patrick Sharp and singles from Patty McCormick and Rob McKean.  Players of the Game went to Finlands Tim Martins and for Canada Frank Rispoli.

This weeks Xmas special will go Friday December 20 at 9:15 Sweden will play Canada and at 10:30 Finland will do battle with Poland.  USA get the week off for last minute shopping.

Week 12 Recap

Last nights games recap.  Early tilt between Finland and a full USA squad, something the polices have not come close to you yet this year.  2-2 after the opening period.  Finland out score the Americans 2-1 for a 4-3 lead.  2 Finland goals midway closed out this game with Finland on top 6-3 and their 2nd straight win.  Both squads went 0-1 on the PP.  USA got goals from rookie McCullough his 1st career goal, Dan Barrett and Billy Dawe on a tear this year in scoring.  Finland got 2 goals from both Ron Cormier and the ageless Bruce Freeman, and singles from Tim Randa and Tim Martins.  Players of the Game went to Finlands #13 Brian Spence and USA #1 Bobby Ide.

Late game between Sweden and a depleted Polish team needing 2 call ups for this one.  1-1 after the 1st period which saw 2 back up goalies fill in for Sweden, an Ide brothers fill in.  Bobby for the 1st and Gordie for the 2nd and 3rd.  Both Ide brothers tried to stay in at the start of the 2nd and the Polocks were totally confused??????   Poland out duelled Sweden 2-1 in the 2nd for a 3-2 lead.  Sweden scored twice early int he 3rd taking the lead but no let down from the Polish squad as they tied it up late in the 3rd for a final 4-4 tie.  Poland got goals from Alan Robb, Agostino Falcone, Bryon Wright and fill in Marcelo Diluzio.  Sweden got 2 goals from Leo Brideau, what he actually shot on net in the regular season????, Mike Rukavina and best prison buddy Joe Peacock.  Both teams went 0-1 on the PP.  Players off the Game went to Swedens Leo Brideau and Poland Agostino Falcone great handle!!!!!

Week 11 Recap

Last Friday we kicked off our 3rd round of regular season games.  Early tilt between Sweden and Finland.  All light blue in the 1st as they out score the Swedes 4-1.  2nd frame finished at 1-1.  Finland led 5-2 going into the 3rd.  Finland out paced the Swedes in the final period 2-1 for a commanding 7-3 win.  No Brenda visits in this one.  Sweden got 2 goals from Joe ‘Handsome’ Peacock and a single from Sal Guerra.  Finland got 2 goals each from both Dwayne Tygesen and rookie phenon Dave Connolly.  Singles from Jay Cummings, Timmy Randa, and rookie Tim Freeman who had a 4 point night.  Players of the Game went to Swedens Steve Kaluzny and to Finland Tim Martins.

Late game between rivals Canada and USA.  One late USA goal in the 1st period as both squads looked sharp early on.  Again USA scored late in the 2nd taking a 2-0 lead as American backstop the ageless Bobby Ide stopped all Canadian shots.  Canada finally scored early in the 3rd making it a 1 goal game.  USA got 2 more mid way through the final frame and then a late one winning this puppy 5-1.  USA went 0-3 on the PP and Canada was 0-1.  Canada’s lone goal from Robin ‘Stitches’ Flumerfelt.  USA got 2 goals from league leader Marcelo Diluzio and singles from Dan Barrett, Peter Freeman and Murray ‘Disco’ Russell.  Special note Billy Dawe had 3 helpers on this night.  Players of the Game went to Canada’s Robin Flumerfelt and for the Yanks Bobby Ide.

This weeks games on Friday, December 6 as follows; 9:15 USA will do battle with the newly winning Finland.  Late game at 10:30 between the rested Polocks and Sweden looking to bounce back.  Canada gets the week off.
