Gentlemen,

Apologies as I just returned from a week of golfing in North Carolina at a resort they filmed Dirty Dancing at, I think I am better putting Baby in the corner than a biscuit in the basket haha.

So last week we completed our 29th season of Oldtimers Hockey and both our medal games saw a lot of goals from one team and not many from another.  Our first game featured our infamous ‘Kiss your Sister’ Bronze game.

Kiss your sister

The #1 seed NY Islanders looking for a bit of redemption vs the #3 seed Edmonton Oilers who also wanted a bit of payback for their 3rd period collapse vs the same Islanders a few weeks ago.  Opening frame was all Oilers as they scored 4 times and shut out the Islanders after one.  The 2nd period saw both teams score twice for an Oiler lead of 6-2 after two.  The final period both teams scored once for a final Oiler victory of 7-3.  Oilers went 1-1 on the PP and Islanders were 0-2.  Oilers got 2 goals from Leo Brideau and Brian Ree and singles from Spence, Chamberlain and Nelson.  Islanders got goals from Kidd, Harty and Guerra.  Players of the Game went to Islandes Bobby Ide and Oilers Brian Ree.  Oilers our KIiss your Sister Champions!!!!

The fans settled in for the big Gold game with much anticipation, so excited.

The highly favored Flyers set to do battle with the surprising Canadians for all the marbles.  Habs make a last minute signing of a new coach who came well dressed for this event.

The eliminated Bruins Robin Flumerfelt walked into the Habs room with his special sweater on.  Habs goalie Barry Ervin got sick right away.  Habs opened the scoring at 10:35 of the 1st and took it to the Flyers for much of the opening frame.  Flyers tied it up with just 30 ticks on the clock closing out the 1st tied at 1’s.  Could this be the SHOCK the WORLD game for these Habs???  All Flyers in the 2nd period as they score 3 times and shut out the Habs, a 4-1 lead going into the final period.  Flyers pound the Habs early in the 3rd scoring 3 times in the first 4 minutes of the 3rd and one more late in the period for a final Gold medal victory of 8-1.  Flyers went 1-2 on the PP and Habs were 0-0.  Patty Sharp scored the lone Habs goal.  Flyers get 2 goals each from Dan Barrett, Rob Messenger, Gord Manning and Joel May.  Players of the Game went to Flyers Rob Messenger and Habs Mark Woods who surprised his boys with a locker room visit.  Our Prez Alan Robb celebrated his first Oldtimer Stanley Cup victory in his 10+ years in the league like a fat kid on a smartie.  So excited!!!

Flyer Mark Plewes now with 8 Stanley Cups, most ever in our history.  Our Conn Smythe winner as Most Valuable Playoff performance goes to Flyers goalie Scott McCallum leading his team to an undefeated playoffs, 4 wins 1 tie, and a 1.60 goals against average.  Congrats Scotty!!!  So another season in the books.  Congrats to our Gold medal team the Flyers, our Silver medal team the Canadians and our Bronze medal team the Oilers.  Kudos to the Islanders and Bruins as well.
