Ok our first round of Playoff round robin games are in the books and 2 beauty games. First game between Italy and Ireland. Italy scores the lone goal in the 1st period. The Irish scored the lone goal in the 2nd with this one being a goaltenders dual 1-1 after 2 periods. Ireland ‘shock the world’ takes the lead with 11 minutes to go. The Italians pull their goalie with 90 ticks on the clock and find the back of the net at 1;09 to go all tied up. Then with 38 seconds left the #2 Italians deflated the #5 Irish with a goal late to win this one 3-2. An awesome playoff game for both squads. Ireland got goals from Dave Woodside and Matty Goddard. Italy got 2 goals from the ageless Tony Thomas and the game winner late from their leader Marcello Di Luzio. Both teams went 0-1 on the PP. Players of the Game went to Irelands rookie sniper Paul Riopelle and for the Italians a duo of Tony Thomas and the Italian Stallion Frankie Rispoli.

Late game between the #3 and #4 seeds Portugal and Slovenia. So awesome to see Bruce Freeman back on the ice, yes sir!!! The Portuguese looked good early scoring twice in the first 8 minutes, one of them short handed. Slovenia get one back late in the 1st for a 2-1 Portugal lead. Slovenia score the first 2 goals of the 2nd but the Pork Chops get 1 late for a 3-3 tie after 2 frames. Mr. Brideau took over in the 3rd with 2 beauty goals giving the Slovenians the victory 5-3. Another close one. Portugal was 0-1 on the PP and Slovenia went 0-2. Portugal got goals from Alan Robb, Paul ‘Marner’ Harty and Robin Flumerfelt. Slovenia got 3 goals and an assist from Leo Brideau and singles from rookie phenol Chris Deware and the very happy Murray Russell. Players of the Game went to Slovenias Leo Brideau and for the Portuguese the very handsome team sponsor Gary ‘Dad’ Julius.
