OK round 2 in the books and 2 beauty games last Friday night. Early tilt between David Dodic Slovenia and Dupal Studios Italy. Azzurri scored the lone goal in the 1st period. Slovenia get 3 goals in the 2nd for a 3-1 lead after 2. Italia out scores the Slov’s 3-2 in the 3rd for a final victory for Slovenia 5-4. A penalty free affair. Italy got 2 goals from Johnny Fasulo and singles from Tony Deluca and Marcelo Di Luzio. Slovenia got 2 goals from David Dodic and singles from Ron Richardson, Mattie Goddard and Dan Barrett. Players of the Game went to Slovenia’s Gerry Boudens.

And for the Azzurri the handsome Italian from the North I think Timo Randa!!!! Ok sounds more Finnish than Italian???

Late game was also a thriller as the Rabba Scotland and the Gary Julius Portuguese faced off. Portugal scored the lone goal in the 1st. In the 2nd Portugal out scored the Scots 3-2 for a 4-2 lead with a frame to go. Portugal scored early in the 3rd for a 5-2 lead. Scotland got 2 back late but ran out of clock as this one finished 5-4 for the Portuguese. Lots of feistiness in this one with 20 penalty minutes giving Brenda some hand cramps. Scotland went 0-3 on the PP and Portugal was 2-3 on the PP. Scotland got 2 goals from Dave Wodar and singles from Brad Stoll and Ron Lonsdale. Portugal goals from Jeff Boulton, Tony Thomas, Dave Woodside, Mike Russo and their game winner from Robin Chantaj. Players of the Game went to Scotlands Frank Nweisser.

And for the Portuguese the handsome David Woodside.

So this weeks games will kick off our 3rd round on Friday, December 3 at 9:15 with Slovenia facing off against Ireland. And at 10:30 Italy will do battle with Scotland. Portugal gets the week off. Wondering if Portugal or Italy will make it to the next World Cup. I asked Frank Arruda and he says he feels sad that Italy will miss it again. Then I asked Marcelo and he is so upset that Ronaldo will not be able to take his shirt off in Quatar?????

Boys a couple of reminders for you. Guys will be around selling our 50/50 Holiday draw tickets. $5 each and or 5 for $20. Any donated prizes please give to Rukavina on Slovenia. Draw will go a week before Christmas.

Also a friendly reminder that we are an Oldtimers League and have no one in the stands scouting us. Aggressive stick work or punches to the head will not be tolerated in our league. You just have to skate away. We will be asking our referees to be more assertive in calling any and all overly aggressive plays. We just do not need it. We have a lot of new guys this year and we pride our selves on being different from most hockey leagues. So please be respectful of each other, compete but keep the aggressive play out of our league please.

See you all on the ice!
