Our Holiday Mid week Games went Tuesday night at Port Credit arena to end our 3rd round of regular season games.  Or as Leo likes to say 12 of our 20 pre season games.

The early tilt between the Flyers and the Oilers was interesting as our Referees mistakenly had the wrong times and were missing.  Oilers Brian Ree volunteered to ref the game and Islanders Moe Connell joined him.  2-1 Oilers after the opening frame.  2-1 for the Flyers in the 2nd period to tie up this match at 3’s with one period to go.  Oilers out score the Flyers 2-1 in the final period for a 5-4 victory.  Oilers went 1-3 on the PP and Flyers were 0-2.  Oilers get 2 goals from Brian Spence and singles from Brideau, Kelly and Rundle with the game winner.  Flyers got single goals from Diluzio, Carlisle, Robb and fill in player.  Both teams were very good with Ree and Connell refereeing and just shows how great our league is, nice job boys.  Players of the Game went to Oilers #10 Brian Ree, nice touch Oilers, and Flyers #11 Tony Carlisle.

Late game between the Islanders and the Bruins.  3-2 Islanders after one period.  3-1 for the Islanders in the 2nd for a 6-3 lead.  2-1 Islanders in the final period for a commanding 8-4 win.  Bruins went 1-2 on the PP and Islanders were 1-1.  Islanders get a hat trick from McKean, 2 goals from Connell and singles from Tygesen, Coffin and Riddell.  Bruins get singles from Russell, Wright, Nweisser and Cummings.  Players of the Game goes to Islanders #19 Rob McKean and Bruins #8 Ron Cormier.  Bruins welcome 2 temp players for the rest of the regular season as they face 3-4 current players on long term injury as lower and upper body injuries will put them in a player shortage.  On behalf of all of the members welcome Tom Marshall and Paul Barbosa (great handle).

So 3 of 5 rounds of our regular season in the books.  Islanders sit on top followed closely by the Flyers, Bruins, Oilers and the Habs.  We are pacing at our lowest penalty minutes in many years, yes boys.  Islanders McKean is on pace to break the single season scoring record of 58 points back from 2000-2001 season.  Flyers Diluzio, 2nd in scoring and leads the league in penalty minutes maybe we call him the Italian Gordie Howe.  Bruins Murray Russell leads the rookie scoring crop with 11 points.  And one of our youngest members Scottie McCallum leads all goalies with a 3.83 goals against average.  Aah so much more to come.

Upcoming games scheduled for this week Friday, January 8, 2016 at Port Credit Arena.  9:15 pm Philadelphia vs Boston and 10:30 pm Montreal vs Islanders.  Edmonton get the week off.
