Recap from last Friday nights games, two nail biters that’s for sure.

Early match between Finland and Poland.  Poland out scores the Fin’s 2-1 after the opening period.  The 2nd period saw both squads score once with Poland out front 3-2 with a frame to go.  Finland tied it up mid way through the 3rd and both goalies then took the game over as they shut out all shooters the rest of the way.  Final score 3-3.  Finland went 0-2 on the PP and Poland was 0-1.  Poland got 2 goals from Joe ‘Speedy’ Cosentino and a single from Frank ‘Pork Chop’ Arruda.  Finland got all 3 goals with the hat trick going to team leader Dwayne Tygesen.  Players of the Game went to Polands backstop Art Senkowski and for Finland Dwayne Tygesen.

Late game between the rested Swedes and surging Canada.  2-1 for the Swedes after the 1st period.  Sweden scored 4 times in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd as Canada had only one goal for a Sweden lead of 6-2 with 10 minutes still on the ticker in the 2nd.  Canada stormed back big time for the rest of the 2nd period scoring 4 unanswered tieing this tilt up at 6’s after 2 periods in the books.  Both squads stepped up defensively in the final frame.  Canada scored at the 7 minute mark in the 3rd taking its first lead of the match.  Sweden tied it up with just under 4 minutes to go.  KALUUUUUZZZZNNNYYYYY!!!!!  And this bad boy finished all squared up at 7-7.  Quite the roller coaster game.  Canada went 1-1 on the PP and Sweden was 0-0.  Sweden got 2 goals each from Leo Brideau, Eric Fletcher and Steve Kaluzny and a single from Joe ‘Handsome’ Peacock.  Canada got 4 goals from Patrick ‘On Fire’ Sharp and singles from Robin Flumerfelt, Kevin Nicholson and Rob McKean.  Players of the Game went to Sweden’s Steve Kaluzny and to Canada’s Patrick Sharp scoring 4 times and now leads the race for the Rocket Richard trophy with 20 goals passing USA Diluzio.  When did he get soooo fast???????

Next weeks games will be big ones.  Friday, January 31 at 9:15 pm USA will face off against Sweden.  Both teams are tied for 1st place and will meet again the final night of the regular season.  At 10:30 pm Canada will play Poland and that too is a big game as basically 3 teams are tied for 3rd spot.  Can anyone stop Mr. Sharp?????   Finland will have the week off.  This will be the last night of Round 4 of our regular season.
