So 2 more weeks of pre season to go, here is last weeks games recap.

Early game between the Bruins and the Oilers who are on a 4 game win streak and our hottest team.  Oilers score the lone goal in the opening period.  Oilers continue to roll in the 2nd frame outscoring the Bruins 3-2 for a 4-2 lead heading to the final period.  Bruins make it a 1 goal game at 10:20 and then tie it up at 4’s at 3:44 to go.  Oilers take a late penalty and Bruins Flumerfelt scores the game winner, his league leading 4th of the campaign and the Bruins win a big one 5-4 to end the Oilers 4 game win streak.  Bruins went 1-1 on the PP and Oilers were 0-1.  Bruins got 3 goals off the wood of Flumerfelt and singles from Wright and Nweisser.  Oilers got 2 goals from Nelson and singles from Chantaj and Spinner Spence.  Playoff type atmosphere for this one.  Players of the Game went to Oilers Robb Nelson and Bruins honor both Robin Flumerfelt and backstop Gord Ide who played magnificently in that final frame.  With the Bruins win they still can finish either in the 3rd or 4th seed.  Oilers loss eliminates them from catching the top 2 seeds and they too can finish 3rd or 4th.

Late match between the 5 game losing Habs and the top seed Flyers.  Opening frame was close as the Flyers score 2 times and Habs get 1.  Flyers out score the Habs 2-0 in the 2nd frame taking a 4-1 lead into the 3rd.  2 more early goals in the final period for the Flyers, closes this one out 6-1 victory for the Flyers as the Habs continue to struggle with their 6th loss in a row.  Habs went 0-1 on the PP and Flyers went 0-2.  Peacock scores the lone goal for the Habs and Flyers get 3 from McCormick, 2 from Diluzio and a single from Dr. May.  Players of the Game went to Habs #23 Mark Woods and Flyers #1 Scott McCallum.

This weeks games Friday, March 4 will feature a huge game at 9:15 as the Flyers face off against the Islanders.  A Flyers tie or win will lock them into the 1st seed and Islanders into the 2nd seed.  Islanders need a win and a bit of help the final night of regular season games to take the top seed.  Flyers already have won the head to head battle with the Islanders in case of our tie breaker rules play into the final standings.  Late game will have the Oilers face off against the Habs at 10:30.  An Oiler win will lock them into the 3rd seed and lock the idle Bruins in the 4th seed.  Habs also will look at staying out of the record books with most goals against in a regular season of 134 goals as they sit now with 130 already scored against them in 19 games.
