Boys,

2 weeks to go in our 20 game pre season schedule and just a few things still to be decided.  1st and 2nd seed could have been settled last week with our early tilt of Boston vs Edmonton.  A Bruin win would give them top seed.  Could this be a preview of our Championship Night Gold medal game?  I’m not sure but this one had all the signs that it was playoff time.  Oilers jump out to a 2-1 lead after the opening frame with their 2nd goal coming with 40 seconds left.  Both teams scored once in the 2nd for an Oiler lead of 3-2.  Oilers take a 4-2 lead at 7:38 of the 3rd but those powerful Bruins score twice to tie it all up at 4’s with 2:25 left in the game. The hero for this tilt went to Oilers Rick Burke as he buries the game winner at 1:35.  Oilers win! Oilers win!  22 minutes in penalties in this one.  Even Bruin Brideau who usually averages one minor every 3 years sat twice with Brenda in this one.  Bruins went 1-4 on the PP and the Oilers were 2-5.  Oilers goal scorers went to 2 for Burke, and singles for Cosentino, Mihalic and Baratta.  For the Bruins Cormier gets 2, singles for Brideau and Peacock.  Players of the Game go to Bruins #16 Ronnie Cormier and Oilers #21 Ricky Burke.  Oilers win puts them in the driver spot for the 1st seed if they can win out their last 2 games, Bruins can only win their last game and hope Oilers falter.

Late game between the Habs and the Flyers.  Both squads missing key [layers for this match with n oohing on the line except pride.  1-1 after the opening frame.  Flyers out score the Habs 3-1 in the 2nd for a 4-2 lead.  Both teams score twice in the final frame for a Flyer win of 6-4.  Habs lose their 10th game a new record.  Goal scorers for the Habs, 2 for Kidd, and singles for Maguire and Rukavina.  For the Flyers Cummings and Diluzio with 2 each, singles for Messenger and Rundle.  Both teams went 0-1 on the PP.  Habs get a short handed goal in this one.  Players of the Game went to both back stops, Art Senkowski for the Habs who faced another 100 shot night with a couple of ‘OWN’ goals again from Bambi.  Scott McCallum for the Flyers.

Some Team records look very close to be broken this season, Habs for futility and a few others may be met or broken.  See below.

This weeks games on Friday, March 6 are as follows; 9:15 Flyers vs Islanders and at 10:30  Habs vs the Oilers.  Bruins get the week off.

See you all on the ice!
